New Mexico criminal records are divided among several public bodies. The New Mexico Department of Public Safety, Law Enforcement Records Bureau maintains the State Central Repository, while the New Mexico Corrections Department handles state custody and supervision records. Court files, the New Mexico DPS Sex Offender Registry, and records created across 33 counties follow separate access paths. This private reference site helps readers identify the official statewide system or local office that holds the record they need.

Why We Built This Site

Finding a New Mexico record begins with knowing which government layer created it. New Mexico DPS collects fingerprint-supported arrest cycles and reported outcomes in the State Central Repository. The New Mexico Corrections Department tracks people in state prison and under state probation or parole. The New Mexico DPS Sex Offender Registry provides its own public system, and New Mexico courts maintain case files and dockets. County sheriffs, detention facilities, police departments, and courts create the local arrest, booking, jail, and case records. We organize those statewide routes and connect each of the 33 counties to its local records site. Use the county directory when the original record remains with a county office.

An official copy must come from the New Mexico DPS Law Enforcement Records Bureau, the court, or the county office that created the record. We can identify the likely source, but we cannot provide the government document.
